When it comes to health care spending and this Administration, you need to dig deep

CMS and HHS under this Administration are particularly prone to good news spin when it comes to lowering health care costs and changing the health care system.

Kudos for trying new things, but at this point it’s way too early to claim success. In addition, the dollars claimed as savings must be looked at closely. In some cases the health care savings are more than offset by administrative expenses.

Revising the Medicare payment system, Accountable Care Organizations, Co-Op health insurers and all the other programs contained within Obamacare have a long way to go to demonstrate success along with sustainability.

You see, in concept this all sounds good, but it has been tried before decades ago and it did not work. Let’s hope for better results this time around …. supported by the facts.
