You are forgetting that the low rank private gets free housing, food, uniform allowances and free healthcare, plus other special pay for hazardous duty and war zone, tax exempt status. so add about $10,000 or more to their pay. Once again you skew the numbers, $31,200??? Many people working fast food get less than 24 hours per week, because they only work during high traffic hours and find it very hard to work another part time job into their schedule = $18,720 or less, per year. .

And they work 24 hours a day, don’t go home at night and do pretty risky things.
And you are right, most MW workers are part-time and not family heads of households and isn’t that the point?
