Demagogue
A political leader who seeks support by appealing to the desires and prejudices of ordinary people rather than by using rational argument.
A gifted demagogue with particular skill in manipulating the press.
To rhetorically exploit (an issue) for political purposes in a way calculated to appeal to the desires and prejudices of ordinary people.
The question is are you an “ordinary people?”
Your are if you are not armed with facts and use them to question the rhetoric thrown at you. You are if your prejudices prevent you from being objective or being persuaded by facts.
Demagogues are not unique to any political point of view, but they do seem quite prevalent at both left and right extremes.

It seems to me that the main stream press both right and left are the actual demagogues.

Enablers certainly, especially with inflammatory misleading headlines that don’t match story, but which some people don’t get past.
