UnitedHealth Group CEO Andrew Witty was paid $18.4 million in total compensation last year, according to the latest proxy filing.
The filing, shows Witty’s base salary was nearly $1.5 million and that he earned $10.8 million in stock awards. In addition, his compensation includes $3.6 million in option awards and nearly $2.6 million in nonequity incentive plan compensation.
A lot of money indeed and no doubt all that compensation had a deleterious impact on United’s customers and insured members.
Not really! If you do the math, it works out that his total compensation comes out to less than $0.13 per customer, but then the stock awards don’t cost customers paying premiums a penny.
