OBAMACARE GOES BACK TO COURT — A key piece of the Affordable Care Act goes on trial today, your host reports, before Judge Reed O’Connor at the District Court for the Northern District of Texas, who’s ruled against Obamacare multiple times over the past few years.
In this latest challenge to the law, a group of Texas residents and employers argue that the ACA’s preventive care mandate violates their religious freedoms and that requiring people to pay for health plans that cover screenings for sexually transmitted diseases and HIV prevention drugs will “facilitate and encourage homosexual behavior, prostitution, sexual promiscuity, and intravenous drug use.”

What a sad commentary on common sense and an insult to any religion and the concept of religious freedom. Does screening people for high cholesterol facilitate bad eating habits or screening for diabetes facilitate obesity?
Using the same logic of “facilitate and encourage homosexual behavior, prostitution, sexual promiscuity, and intravenous drug use”, aren’t the existing gun laws promoting the mass shooting over the past years? Bet no one in Texas will file such a law suit.

But will this lead to higher rates for people who eat sugary drinks or smokers as they do for life insurance. Or may be it is why should I have to pay for people that do not make healthy lifestyle choices?
After all, if you can get a group of very health people and limit that group then the rates can be low for that group. Or is it that Obamacare was to force everybody into the same group to spread out costs among the sick and the healthy.
Not for or against but I can see why religious people are trying to use this toward their advantage to get out of Obamacare.

I don’t think that the screenings are the real issue, is all the other stuff…i.e., HPV, HIV, etc., vaccinations that (supposedly) will prevent you from getting some of the serious STD’s…that behavior definitely sends the wrong message to our children, i.e., it’s OK to have sex with whoever you want to, because you are protected from getting any serious disease…
