I want the CEO’s pay – or Taylor Swift😎

Every time I read a far left politician criticizing a CEOs compensation especially related to workers pay, I laugh. It’s such obvious pandering while ignoring facts.

No doubt such comments play well among many workers and that’s why the Warrens, Sanders and others repeatedly make them.

It’s so simplistic, it’s so obviously unfair, right?

No, it isn’t unfair. A CEOs compensation has nothing to do with nor does it lower worker pay.

Here’s the liberal left strategy. Increase worker compensation and to pay for it prices must go up or corporate earnings decline. If earnings decline, profit sharing payments decline and so does the value of stock shares held by retirement plans. If prices go up we will talk about people living paycheck to paycheck.

And then, of course there is the possibility of additional automation, or otherwise loss of jobs. And let’s not forget we still need to be competitive in the global market.

To avoid dealing with the reality of expenses, profit and prices, let’s just target CEO pay.🤑

Ford paid its CEO $21,000,000 in total compensation in 2022. Let’s take it all away and give it to employees. Each worker gets about $118. In the meantime Ford announced in its earnings report in February that its UAW employees will receive profit-sharing checks averaging $9,176 this year.

You know what does more harm to a workers income than CEO pay? Taylor Swift. 🤭 The majority of concert goers are in their early twenties to early forties.

Ones financial wellbeing is comprised of income and spending – and saving. If anyone can spend this kind of money on a concert – or sports event for that matter – what their CEO makes is quite insignificant.

  1. Ah, but one can argue that Taylor Swift had a much better year than Ford’s CEO! I know my teenage daughter had the experience of a lifetime (i.e. she won’t need to trade in this concert experience for another one in 3 years because the wheels are falling off) when she attended one of her concerts (with face-value tickets). Ms. Swift delivers value to her audience.

But buy a new Ford and have to deal with a lying, cheating dealership while you hope your vehicle doesn’t fall apart within the first few years? Nope. Not even with the employee discount (which I’m eligible to receive). And even if they did away with dealerships and you could purchase directly from Ford, their prices are now ridiculous, and you can’t buy a reasonably priced vehicle.

Keep jacking up prices while you cause labor unrest and pretty soon we’ll all be walking.
