What’s in a name

Social media is full of claims by politicians that the elimination of the Child Tax Credit caused the number of children in poverty to increase.

Equating the Child Tax Credit with a reduction in child poverty is nonsense. It was a tax credit with no limits on how it was spent or on whom.

If it didn’t have the word “child” in the name it would not be related to poverty at all.

AND it was not limited to families in poverty or even low income families‼️ Families well into middle class – up to $200,000 annual income – were eligible as well.

Misleading political pandering at it finest.
