I’m going to put the troubles of people and the world – even Donald Trump – on the back burner today and talk about something important – how to make a proper bagel sandwich. Here is what you will need.

Ingredients:
- A good bagel, crispy on the outside, chewy inside. Any type will do except those deviants such as blueberry or cinnamon
- Several slices of lox – cured/smoked salmon (the more the better in my book)
- Two slices of American cheese
- Cream cheese
- Tomato
- Green stuffed olives
- Sweet onion, I prefer red onions
Putting it together
- Slice and lightly toast (or not) the bagel
- Spread one side generously with cream cheese
- Slice the olives in half and arrange them on the cream cheese around the bagel
- Place a slice or two of American cheese on the olives
- Pile on the lox
- Next comes slices of tomato
- And last the thinly sliced onion
- Put the top on the bagel, slice in half and enjoy
An ample supply of napkins is suggested
While you are eating your bagel the world is still in chaos, Congress is dysfunctional, SS and Medicare are heading for insolvency and the stock market is going up and down and people are not financially prudent.

More New York elitism at work. Where are you supposed to get a decent bagel here in the Rockies? 🙂

I grew up on a farm in Illinois. Never even heard of a bagel until probably twenty years later. Or lox. Or cream cheese, for that matter. Still have never tried it.
The world has always been in chaos. Before I.retired, I missed out on a lot of it because I was too busy trying to stay alive.

Not likely. With few exceptions, I stay with the Midwest comfort food I grew up with. Did make an exception for Rocky Mountain Oysters.
Funny, I’ve never had real oysters☺

No, no, no! No olives on lox. Unforgiveable!
