Heading off the cliff

This Country used to have a viable political center, there used to be reasonable civility, discussion, compromise, room for both honest liberal and conservative views. No more.

Now we are torn apart by extremes at both ends of the ideological spectrum. And we have politicians and groups fostering division among us often with lies and misinformation.

This isn’t going to end well. Such division and extremism never does.

If you see no room for compromise in solving our problems, you are part of the problem. If you accept extreme political rhetoric without substantiating the facts, you are part of the problem.

What happened to the United States. A nation divided cannot …

  1. Ask yourself where do you get the news? The division comes from all sorts of news sources we have whether social media–print–electronic or any other you can think of. Rather than doing some hard research on an issue folks simply report the news ,or report nothing, based on their bias. If you hated Trump everything he said was analyzed under a microscope–if you loved the guy you let things slide.

It’s a shame folks can’t sit and discuss issues without hostility. I think people get angry when you present some thoughts, or facts,or opinions and someone cannot engage because they lack coherent thoughts. We might disagree but let’s not be disagreeable.

Give me some facts–I will give some to you–let’s figure out what might be a solution. Nothing is gained by calling someone a racist–bigot–or a purveyor of fake news.

  2. Each day we must decide what we each can do today to move toward a more balanced way of thinking and peacefully act on that today. Then make another decision each and every day with the corresponding daily action. Talk is cheap, action is required. As the saying goes “you eat an elephant one bite at a time.” Elephant is reference to the problem one is trying to address with their action, not a reference to a particle political party.

  3. When we have popular commentators only pointing out extremes on one side of the spectrum-that only fuels the divide. They make mirrors for a reason

  4. It’s not as simple as Democrat-Republican, Liberal-Conserative, or politicians versus the voting public. There is a deep divide between the USA as it was 50 years ago and what some groups want it to be going forward. Think Marxism versus the system we know. Think no police, no punishment for crime. I could go on and on, but I don’t want to start the chatter that occurs on this topic. Anyway, enjoy this crisp fall day.

  5. If this divide isn’t fixed – and fast, we won’t recognize America in 10 years. And probably quicker than that. And I don’t know what will fix it!
