Do we really need a Senator to tell us a half-gallon of ice cream isn’t or if donuts get any smaller there won’t be room for the hole? I think not.
Large corporations aren’t the only ones who mislead Americans or squeeze as much from us as possible. Have you paid a gas station or merchant more to use a credit card?
It’s pretty funny when a politician lectures about money, spending or greed.
Exactly what does corporate “greed” do? It increases profits.
What does increasing profits do? They raise stock prices and dividends.
What do higher stock prices and dividends do? They add to the financial security of Americans saving for and living in retirement and they provide income to millions of Americans.
I guess you could say your 401k or IRA, even your pension like corporate greed – rising profits at least.
Keep in mind a corporation is not a living, thinking thing. People, not corporations make decisions, but politicians like to keep their targets vague, it’s easier to create a scapegoat.
Why is it so easy to forget that one way or another virtually everything is connected? Why don’t we think through the consequences of our grand ideas?

G, I suppose we are in some ways living in different countries. Mine has a government with a trillion dollar interest bill. You are ex-military so you know the cost of forever wars, current DOD budget and added expense for veterans benefits. That is about 1.4 trillion rounded in my country. Social Security is secure as long as more can be borrowed or the tax exacted from the work force. These funds are needed before anything else.
My country has stories weekly on local news of human trafficking, drug overdose deaths. Many attributed to fentanyl which comes across the southern border, courtesy of the drug cartels. The border solution doesn’t need a bill that includes big bucks for the Ukraine mess. Yes, Biden can find the money for more Border Patrol agents and whatever else needed to process entries without legislation. He certainly went out of his way to find some dollars to suspend student loan repayments. Yes, the shootings have subsided somewhat in my country but thefts, robberies, shoplifting, carjackings, go on ad infinitum. You can say that it is all anecdotal but look at the national stats and perhaps it isn’t. By the way, didn’t Biden just get off a charge of having classified docs scattered around his premises all because he was an old guy with memory problems. You don’t think that he lives as comfortably as he does in Delaware based on his Senate salary all these years do you. So, he hasn’t been hit with round after round of lawsuits like Trump has but that doesn’t mean he’s clean. All this doesn’t mean I am a Trump supporter but I’m damn sure not a Biden fanboy. Give me some more choices.

You have a lot of good points there but Dementia Donny doesn’t have any solutions to any of those problems. If he did, he would have done something during his first term. And oh by the way, he is a corrupt authoritarian who clearly has dangerous policies. So most Americans would vote for a goat over Dementia Donny.
And also, as a military guy, I can tell you that it was Biden who had the political courage to get us out of Afghanistan and end the forever war that Republicans stared. And he has done a damn good job on Ukraine, something all Americans should be united on, even if you hate every other thing he did. Reagan would have been on the same side there too.

That well be the case. I was referring to the overall national statistics, which show a significant decline. There are definitely some local outliers – much like the housing market, it is not uniform.

Well, if crime is down he should run on that point as well as the economy. These are the same folks who tell us that the border is closed. Crime is down if you redefine crime–just back from local Whole Foods and there is a full time policeman assigned to that store.
From Walgreen’s to In and Out Burger in Oakland crime is a major issue. The party of Defund the Police–Re-imagine Policing has wrecked havoc on black and brown citizens in the inner cities. Just run on that issue and let’s see how far it gets you. Tell folks it’s just their imagination.
I read in a local magazine that restaurants are seeing more folks at an earlier hour (6 to 7) as opposed to 8 PM as folks fear crime. I believe Chicago, or NYC has moved back the hour when plays and musicals begin and matinees are now big winners. People fear crime and why not.
But, not to worry the numbers belie reality!

I am sure your personal anecdotes are more real to you than official statistics. Just like your erroneous understanding that there is some sort of defund the police policy in the Democratic Party. And your lack of understanding of how it is the Republican Party that has effectively cut funding or blocked funding for law enforcement at every level, from local police to federal border patrol and IRS. I get it, I went through some silly Rush Limbaugh stage too when I was young, the propaganda is seductive and makes you think it is your team against their team. But what they really do is destroy your trust in things like real statistics and real policy and actual legislation and actual facts. At that point, they can then just make up about anything they want. That is how suddenly so many American find themselves vehemently supporting an authoritarian MAGA that is against everything America ever stood for. What would Reagan think if we showed him now that the GOO was pro Russia, pro China, allied with Neo Nazi, white supremacists, confederate flags at all their rallies, hell bent on betraying our NATO allies and Asian allies?

When you get a chance show me a rally that Trump is having with confederate flags everywhere. One or two maybe–maybe carried by a liberal to convince folks like you that evil folks support Trump. Of course Democrats did not support the defund movement–they were MAGA people disguised as Dems.
IRS are not law enforcement–they audit folks–they go after all sorts of people. Only reason they wanted to add 85,000 is they claimed they could squeeze XYZ dollars from audits. When you do a budget bill you have to show money in balancing what goes out so you add 85,000–say it raises XYZ and you are good to go. Both parties do this. The judge is the Congressional Budget Office.
Facts are what you agree with–facts you don’t agree with are a myth. The Dems were the defund folks and they did in city after city including where I am. Real policy is what you define it as–what you agree with. Poll numbers are just fine in your world–the fact that he has lost his marbles is probably a reason to be reelected–up is down and down is up.
How did defund work? How did border security work when old Joe signed numerous executive orders? Great mortgage rates compared to 3-years ago.
GOP is pro Russia–pro China–allied with Neo Nazii white supremacists. Must be something in the air? Where are all the white supremacists? You see a lot of them? Let me know when you spot one. I thought Hunter and his father were on good terms with the Chinese–see all those Chinese migrants crossing the border a few days ago–these folks had suitcases–they had a long trip no doubt.
Maybe when you go to a pro-Hamas rally at the local university sponsored by young Democrats you see Nazi sympathizers –“From the river to the sea” isn’t that the catchy tune they play while blocking traffic and spraying graffiti on the walls.
Remember, old Joe told us he would bring peace and calm if elected because he had 50-years of experience and knew the system–sure he does–just read the report from yesterday and how he mishandled top secret security documents for 25-years or more. Even used them with his ghost writer.

You can’t “close” the border. It would cripple our economy to block all legal entry into the country. And probably still not really make much a dent in illegal immigration. What you can do is hire more border patrol, reform the asylum rules, hire more judges to adjudicate cases more quickly, etc. All of which were things that were in the bill that Republicans blocked. Because their only goal is to sabotage the country to have a better chance of winning the election this year. But pay attention, they have zero realistic proposals to do anything meaningfully different than the proposed bill on border enforcement. The only hope for immigration reform is bipartisanship as long as this is a filibuster.

So it’s really just a profit thing. All this time I thought the companies were looking out for my health by shrinking the ice cream cartons and the size of the bags of powdered sugar mini donuts. Those two are my weaknesses and I’ve been chastised repeatedly for continually buying them. I always respond that I’m in my second childhood so I feel entitled. Now I’m crushed that the companies have just been luring me in.

We literally have a career criminal with a strong probability of winning election for President. He is openly promising an authoritarian government if elected. He is clear in his intent to betray US allies to benefit our rivals Russia and China. And his proposed policies would cause massive inflation and a catastrophic increase in the national debt. I just wish Elizabeth Warren was our biggest problem. We may see a large adjustment to our standard of living and way of life within our own lifetimes if we don’t defeat this anti-American MAGA movement.

Good for you “G”–starting off my day with a great big laugh–go with ole Joe–he already gave us a good dose of inflation and lots of debt–he and Hunter got rich through hard work and pluck (a joke “G”)–Russia went into Crimea when he was VP (he has no clue he was VP) and Ukraine a few years ago–our allies after yesterday must be horrified but certainly understand why he tries to shake hands with ghosts and goblins –our enemies are certainly emboldened –and most of us are scared that this demented man has nuclear weapons at his behest–
the fool thinks dead leaders are still alive and last night told me the president of Egypt was a Mexican–he must have had the border mess he created on his demented mind–the American people, at this time, give him such low scores on just about everything, that they might just elect the orange haired clown you and your buddies fear so much. Blame MAGA for the guy who, at this time, can’t even sit for a 3-minute interview at the Super Bowl–who knows what he will say or even if he can stay awake.
How did he get out of that skiff with those secret documents he has held in the garage in full view of his drug addled kid? Samuel Berger (Sandy Burglar) was not so lucky after leaving with documents stuffed down his pants.
Too demented to stand trial but not to be elected president–just think “G” you and your buddies will try and convince us that over the next 5 years his condition will improve.

Yes, he selects real fine folks like the head of Homeland Security who, even after 1,000,000 (his numbers) illegals have entered since 10/01/23 insists the border is closed. Let’s not forget the VP who is a real winner! Of course there is the new Supreme Court justice who couldn’t tell us what a woman is.
But I do concede that Trump’s appointments were good folks but Trump is such a fool he can’t keep a staff. Calls Haley “birdbrain” but she was appointed by him. What a choice we have in November. Tweedle dumb and tweedle dee!

Actually, the inflation, and the debt were a world wide phenomenon caused mainly by Covid.
Joe and his wife amassed about $15 million after his term as vice President from speeches and books. He probably was aware of the nature of Hunter’s “business”, but intentionally distanced himself. Not great, but not criminal.
I don’t watch much TV, but the times I have seen Biden, either in prepared speeches or off the cuff, he seemed quite composed and lucid. Much more so than Trump, IMHO.
Nearly everything I have read indicates that the world leaders, and world population in general, feel much more secure with Biden in charge.
You are aware, I assume, that Trump scheduled the Afghanistan withdrawal in an agreement with the Taliban, excluding Afghany government. Then, ordered a rapid withdrawal of all U.S. troops from Afghanistan and Somalia in the wake of his 2020 election loss, ..

Fortunately cooler heads prevailed. I feel much safer with Trump far away from the nuclear button.
I have actually never been a fan of Joe Biden. My votes have been more against Trump, and I would much rather see Joe spend the rest of hid life with family and friends, but Trump needs to go.
He should have been in prison years ago.

James, we must be living in different counties. Here in America we have a booming economy, record unemployment, crime has plummeted since its spike under Trump, and we are finally respected again around the world. I have never seen anything to indicate that Biden has done anything illegal, but Trump is facing 91 felony accounts and owed 83 million to one of his sexual assault victims. But the bottom line for me is that Trump has openly said he wants to be dictator and already tried to overthrow our democracy once. That alone is enough for me. The other stuff, like his pro-China and pro-Russia stuff is just icing on the cake. I served in the military for almost 30 year and am so stunned to see so many people ready to throw away our Constitution and choose a corrupt authoritarian, like some third world country. If MAGA supporters admire Russia and China so much, let them move there.
