Is this how we see America today?

Is this how we define freedom and liberty today in America?

Is this the new patriotism?

Seems more like hate and ignorance to me.

Yeah, I know they are illegal. I get that and the whole system needs to be fixed, but guess what, they are also huddled masses, homeless and wanting a better life.

This kind of hate is not the way to fix things. The real issue for many Americans is not so much they are illegals but they are not from Europe or Scandinavian as many of our ancestors were.

Preserve liberty?

Oh my, what a strange view of liberty. 😢

“Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”

  1. I think Haiti is a good example or Cuba–but no country in the world would, or does, allow unfettered immigration. There are asylum rules and regulations internationally not just here in the States. I believe one rule is you must apply for asylum in the first country you come to one just don’t pick a place based on benefits or other factors.

You need to come into ports of entry as far as I know. Once you begin allowing folks to break the law then you have issues. There must be respect for the law or you are creating a jungle like environment.

Here in most states, cities, and towns we have, as an example, school attendance based on location. All of us probably attended our neighborhood school. Are there exceptions for trade schools, or arts and sciences, and academic school? But you followed the rules of application if one ventures outside the boundary.

No different here. The law needs to be obeyed and laws need adjustment if the times change. This is just basic common sense. We hear this all the time in a call for common sense gun control.

If you are flying the flag of open borders worldwide then you are out there, way out there. Usually folks like that suffer no consequence of their beliefs. A mugged liberal though becomes a conservative very quickly.

    1. “There is nothing in international law to say that refugees must claim asylum in the first country they reach. A European regulation allows countries in the EU to return an adult asylum applicant to the first European country they reached. This means that countries on the edge of Europe have responsibility for a lot more people seeking asylum than others.”

“It is recognised in the 1951 Convention that people fleeing persecution may have to use irregular means in order to escape and claim asylum in another country – there is no legal way to travel to the UK for the specific purpose of seeking asylum.”

      1. How about reversing some of the 90 or so executive orders that helped create the big mess we now find ourselves with. I suspect this whole border mess is a way to turn blue states red–almost everything has become political so why should we doubt that this isn’t.?

What we know is the folks like Biden were all for unfettered immigration until the blue cities and states had them dumped on their doorsteps. Once it’s your backyard that has deal with an issue then the attitude changes.

What Biden should have done early on is address the nation–explain this is not a state issue it is a federal issue–migrants would be spread out over the nation with federal aid to help in the transition. If he had proposed (president proposes/Congress disposes) legislation which many Republicans recently rejected in 2021 we might have some sanity with this issue.

    1. Millions might fit your description so they should be allowed to show up on our shores–walk in—-what about folks who steal because they say they have no food or housing–what about squatters–folks living in tents on city sidewalks because they lack housing–we could go on and on–if they stole your car because they need transport would you defend them?

All the above could argue they had no hope which justifies what they have done. The left wing loonies have taken over and we can see what a mess they make–de-funding the police–the border overrun–inflation–crime in our big cities–everything they touch turns to sh– from trying to shift college debt to the working class to the latest FAFSA debacle.

If you personally were stuck in a country with no hope, and you had a chance for a better life?*

  3. I’m old enough to remember the Haitian boat people crisis in the early 90’s. Reagan had started a policy of forced repatriation and when the numbers soared in the Bush administration, they began redircting refugees to Guantanomo Bay rather than letting them land in Florida and continuing the forced repatriation. During his presidential run, Clinton heavily criticized the Bush administration for these tactics but after his election he quickly pivoted and continued the forced repatriation practice. The collapse of Haiti is going to be a huge problem for the next administration. I can’t stand Trump but I think a Biden administration will be completely unable to deal with this issue.

      1. What I hear, from both parties, is that there were periods, recently, when either parties had majorities in both houses AND the presidency. Nothing was done about immigration.

        Or Social Security.

  4. President Trump is the only one who can save America and keep it white and Christian. This is an emergency and we have to act now, even if it means suspending the Constitution for a few years. I don’t care if Biden has a better economy or foreign policy, because only President Trump can keep America on the side of God. We and all the other patriots are ready to sacrifice to help make America Great again. It is time to take down the Statue of Liberty. America is closed!

    Not hate!

Not because of where they are from!

IS becasue they are illegal and not following the law

IS because a small percentage are bringing very deadly drugs and are criminals

IS becasue a small percentage are potentially terrorists or other evil minded folks – 860k per the CBO in fiscal year 2023 were “”got aways” – we have no idea who or where they are!

  6. I wasn’t alive during the immigration period of the late nineteenth century and early twentieth century. From what I have read and been taught over the years, it was a family type event. Sure, there were single males in the mix but today it seems different. Today there seems to be large cohorts of single males, many in their twenties. I’m just going by news photos of the walking waves of people. Are they leaving their families behind to face “unsafe” conditions at home while they claim asylum here? That would be a stain on their character. No? Why do so some come across the southern border who are from Africa and even China? Why not the east or west coast ports?
Another question I have is why did the rise in the deadly fentanyl coincide with this human wave of asylum seekers. Is it just an unrelated coincidence? Yes, I have even more questions but enough for today.

    1. You have to laugh at these folks who talk about liberty and freedom and then when folks break the law they want to ignore it. We know by now that these same folks freak out when the illegals are brought to their communities.

You call us ignorant and hateful and then wonder why there is division within the country. No, we just want the law followed–this ain’t rocket science.

Name calling gets you nowhere just ask Hillary with her deplorable tirade against half the potential voters–or when she said recently some folks need to be reeducated (think Mao and the Great Leap Forward). Of course we can easily add Trump with his asinine names and acting like a 7th grader. Seems like you have some interesting company.

They call their fellow citizens hateful and ignorant because they ask that law be followed. That we have no idea who is coming, who has their “shots”, are they on the terror watch list?

These are the same folks who tell us illegal guns are the scourge of the nation leading to 30,000-35,000 deaths. Get the illegal guns off the street and just watch gun deaths plummet they tell us. Some laws need to be obeyed while others are negotiable.

They pick and choose what laws should be followed and what laws should not. As my father used to say; “they think their sh.. doesn’t stink” –“they think they are smarter than you and better than you.”

Obey the law and we are just fine. A country without borders is not a country former President Reagan would say.

    2. I said I had more questions so I’ll toss them out now. Where are the huddled and homeless masses from? Since we can freely interfere with any country we choose, why isn’t the USA doing anything about the origin of these migrants problems? We seem to be proficient at meddling all over the world.
My next question is since anti white is the new way of doing things here, will this mean illegals will get preference for jobs and scholarship opportunities over the native born whites? I’m a southerner and don’t wish my grandchildren shoved any further down the line. I’m too old to give a damn for myself, but they deserve something better than what the “elites” think of them.
So you think I’m a mean old bastard because I don’t support this population “bombing” that is encouraged by Washington? I have reason to resent it.

When a Catholic was running for president the word put out was the Pope was building a tunnel to the White House- seriously. Today they are all criminals, drug lords, diseased, will taint our blood, are animals and scum. Take your pick, nothing much changes.

      2. I can only go by what I read as for very early immigration but I remember the various names used for certain groups in the 50s and 60s. I also know JFK was elected President in 1960 despite his Catholic background. I maintain that today is different from times past in that the border is effectively overrun. The early migrants lined up peacefully as far as I know and were processed in. Now it’s a mad scramble to cross wherever you can and make a run for it. Do you expect migrants to be looked on with respect when they don’t even bother to leave a name when they come in and when I can’t even get near boarding a plane to fly across the country without showing my ID and being searched. No, times have changed, you haven’t.
