I get a kick out of reading social media posts, the great one for showing people out of touch is Threads. Here is a sample.
Illegal immigration is so mired in fantasy and propaganda I’m not sure we will ever have a fair solution.
The perception expressed here is not unusual- unfortunately.

yes. let’s look at fantasy and propaganda:
1. $30,000 for migrants who are buying a home in Oregon–no U.S. citizens need apply–this according to Newsweek no bastion of conservative thought.–lawsuits are being filed–use your Google machine to check it out.
2. 30,000 migrant children are lost in the country so say ICE and Homeland Security–again from Newsweek–the czar did nothing to keep them out and while here 30,000 are lost–good job!! use that Google device.
3. Terror watch list shows us some folks have gotten into the country and we need to be vigilant, Another super job by the czar who loses kids and a few terrorists.
4. $980 million NYC spends on hotels for the migrants–135 of 680 NYC hotels populated by illegals–fewer rooms for tourists with higher costs.
The great unwashed and deplorables so often looked down upon by our elites will be paying for all of this along with everyone else–they don’t drive Volvos and wear Birkenstocks (no socks– I want to see your feet)–they drive Ford 150’s and fly their flag but are accused of fantasy and propaganda. They have issues with with illegals??— just go sit down and shut up you racist/bigot.
Thank goodness for DeSantis and Abbot who showed us the the migrants belonged nationwide not just in Eagle Pass. I say move a few families into the fancy senior communities populated by our wealthier class–let’s share the wealth.
Hey, I saw the elites waving their flag last week which was a change for them–usually they are burning the flag–some wore camouflage hats and talked of owning a gun, hunting, and fishing. I guess for a week you can identify with the average guy and on November 6 go back to tearing down statutes, looting, burning, and intimidating Jews on college campuses.
Best of the week was Doug who, we are told, is not too masculine but a real mensch–oh ya, the guy who plugged the nanny is quite the mensch!!

Vern, don’t underestimate yourself. Sure, the educated elites like Elon Musk have contributed a lot to society. But the unrefined like you and I contribute through labor, cultural traditions, and community building. We provide the foundation upon which the achievements of the educated elite rest.

we should take them up on the offer and give them what illegal immigrants get. Stop their Medicare and social security. Their health care will be charity care at an ER or walk in or a non profit medical facility for the poor and homeless. They should wash dishes or day labor for cash etc.

Even better, this person will probably vote for the Project 2025 candidate that wants to raise her Medicare rates even more to cover tax breaks for corporations and billionaires.

another symptom of a post literate society. It reminds me of Maoism. Down with the educated elite that made this the best place to live in the world. Replace them with the uneducated peasants. Destroy the universities, ban scientists and doctors, and destroy all the institutions.

Yes, and I am very grateful. So proud that America is a leader is some many areas thanks to our scientists and universities and businessmen and journalists and political leaders. We live in the best era in human history thanks to the expertise of the educated elite .

Vern, don’t underestimate yourself. Sure, educated elites like Elon Musk have contributed a lot to our society. But the mere unlearned like ourselves have driven socials movements and change and our contributions provide the foundations upon which the achievements of the elite rest.
