“They” did it, exactly who is “they?”

Ignorance abounds

“The federal government doesn’t deserve a penny of your hard-earned money?” The federal government is us. It is not some self-generated entity. It’s not us versus them, it is us.

“They’ve enslaved us? You mean the people we have elected year after year? Do you mean the people who pushed tax cuts we can’t afford?

Where the hell does she think they will get nearly a third of the budget to cut?

Or, do you mean the Americans who want no tax increases, but readily accept unfunded new benefits from “they?”

In many cases the money you keep in your pocket will be used to pay for the programs no longer provided by our government.

Clearly, we should not be spending what we don’t pay for including existing programs, but nobody is telling Americans what cutting existing programs and services means.

It’s like telling a family in debt and living beyond its means it must get rid of one car, cancel a vacation or not go to the college of choice.

  1. Quinn, you do know that Marjorie is a disruptor right? She is the right wing opposite of AOC.
The 2 billion in cuts may not materialize in one year but may occur over time. Perhaps in total over a 4 year term, who knows. Al Lindquist makes a very good point that we paid in a record tax haul in 2024 but fell far short of covering the budget. All spending is not necessarily useful or productive.

    1. I do know. But many people listen and accept that stuff.

It’s two trillion by the way. The problem is even over 4 years it can’t be done without hurting people with existing programs plus we need to stop Congress just backfilling with new spending- including new or extended tax cuts.

Well, of course if my adult child was living beyond her means maybe they need to get rid of one car, cancel their vacation, and the grandchild not go to the college of his choice, but matriculate at a college the family can afford. Isn’t that the advice you would give to your family member?

You mention people pushing tax cuts we can’t afford–are these the same ones pushing spending programs we can’t afford? Are these the same folks who wanted to grow the deficit by forgiving a portion of student loans as a means of buying votes?

What unfunded new benefits? You mean the Social Security benefits the teacher living next to you earned with her side hustle, then retired and did a full hustle, but because she has a public pension she’s penalized? Who is paying for that? I assume she earned it and has paid for it–maybe it’s paid in the same manner as your 8% SS increase a few years ago–how is the COLA financed?

Tax cuts we can’t afford? Of course, per usual, you have no evidence to show us how those lower taxes have added to the deficit. I say they helped create a very strong economy leading to record federal income.

Let’s try again–we brought in $4.9 trillion in 2024–$3.5 trillion in 2019–$1.4 trillion more. As a share of GDP revenue rose from 16.3% of GDP in 2019 to 17.2% last year.

The deficit as a share of GDP has exploded from 4.6% in 2019 to 6.7% this year.

    Why 2019?–not influenced by pandemic.

You and MTG are like two peas in pod–just 2 different pods—no facts just blowing off steam–your 1st rant of ’25.
