Speaking at an investment summit hosted by Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth fund in Miami Beach, Florida, on Wednesday, Trump said he was considering using 20 percent of the savings for payouts to the public and 20 percent to pay down the federal government’s $36 trillion debt. Source: aljazerra
If you cancel a contract and avoid paying $8,000,000, doesn’t that mean you are just under budget? Why would you do anything but allow it to lower the year’s deficit?
I’m pretty sure what to do with supposed savings is not up to the President nor is payouts to the public. Last I looked we still have a Congress.
20% here, 20% there – what about the other 60%?
Does this guy understand how our country works. Oops I forgot, it’s his country.

Al Lindquist
well, if you save a $1.00 and give $0.20 back to the taxpayers it might not be too bad considering they are asking folks to find examples of waste and abuse–as an incentive more checks sent out if deficit can be reduced even more.
I agree with you though that in my world we pay down the debt with all savings.
interesting to read the letters by average folks responding to large layoffs at SW Air and a smaller % at Starbucks–the ones I read wondered why federal workers were whining when this stuff is common place in the private sector. Numerous differences of course but the principle of a life time job upsets those who pay for it knowing they themselves are always subject to layoffs.
With the feds one can retire at full benefit at age 55 and 30-years service–cola based pension–lifetime health care for themselves and spouse even if the retiree passes away before spouse.
I hate not answering questions so earlier you asked why I had issues with Medicare For All–seems as if the system is broke financially so I have issues adding to such a large bureaucracy until it is on its feet financially–if Medicare For All helped the financial condition of the program I would be less concerned.
One might be on stronger footing if you could explain how the Germans and others meld private and public together.

Trump understands how the entrepreneur works, which in reality is how a lot of this country works. He doesn’t understand how the government works and no one else does either. Congress is a joke and that is how we are waist deep in national debt.
