While there were some comments displaying common sense on taxes, the bulk are more reflected in the comments below.

“We earned it.” Earned what? “Struggling to keep up on lower income.” What about young families doing the same? “Retired people need a break.” Retired people had a lifetime to prepare for retirement.

Seniors are no more deserving than any other segment of our society. In fact, they had a lifetime to prepare for their future and the days of living without a working income is not a surprise.
They (we) already receive more assistance and advantages than any other segment of society.

What would DeSantis replace the property tax with?

Here we go again about how ignorant our fellow citizens are. Brought to you by the same folks who told us:
1. You can have great insurance for just $2500 and you can keep your doctor.
2. The rich need to pay their fair share.
3. Illegal immigration is actually a benefit to our country so for those of you in opposition to an open border sit down and shut up you racist bigots.
4. The border is closed and only Faux News is feeding you a lie. Do not believe what you see!
5. No, our president is not demented he’s in tip top shape mentally and physically. What you are seeing and hearing is a deep fake perpetuated by Faux News.
So, could I list the exaggerations and lies that were told by my folks? Of course but others can do that if they want.
The point is you can point out the absurdidies of what random folks say all day. The question I have is which ones did you believe?

Surely you see the point of the post. Saying or believing something with no basis in fact or without checking facts is dangerous. In this post, you must see the stupidity and short-sightedness of the comments. By the way legal immigration is essential, and the point is to build a system that allows more of the kind we need rather than build a wall around us and think we helped ourselves.

Yes, always better to check facts but from Maine to Florida folks say some crazy things and you could quote them weekly.
Yes, legal immigration is our way out of some problems we face. Would be helpful if we had legislation that allowed those here now illegally to stay. Although deportation of more than criminals I don’t see happening.
Spending a few days in Naples Florida and our waitress at a nice Italian restaurant Anna had an accent. As I usually do I asked about her native country which was Macedonia. She then told us it’s location, bordering nation’s, and language. Then a quick informational tour of local boyfriend, maybe marriage and children, and mother who visits her every 2 years.
As I said to friends; “more information than I needed “.
We agreed at the end that she was outstanding in her position. And my wife told her how lucky we were to have her as a citizen.
Close the border–find a way to legally keep folks here and realize what a great country we have as folks vote with their feet.
By the way DeSantis is working to eliminate property tax—so I am told.
