Growing concern

I find this rhetoric very disturbing. I hope you do as well

The total funding for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting which distributes these funds is equal to $1.50 per American per year. Most of the funding comes from private donations.

But this isn’t about money and that is what is disturbing.

If it was about money there would be no need for the political reference and attack.

First Amendment  Fundamental Freedoms

  • Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

brother Quinn is more unhinged today than usual–you have to laugh at these people and then it becomes clear why they lost as they did–let’s take PBS:

why should PBS get a dime–any other network get anything–CBS–NBC–CNN? founded almost 60-years ago when basically all we had were a few networks and Metromedia there’s nothing you can’t get today in this age of information–but like Kudzu a government program never ends it just keeps growing.

PBS is as unbiased as FOX News —MSNBC–CNN–and the legacy media–it’s almost a joke they lean so far left–I listen when on the road and I don’t know anyone who doesn’t think it is a left leaning network–lean anywhere you want but not on my dime. I contribute a pretty decent amount of $ but designate for the classical music station only in our the area.

The head of PBS Katherine Maher testified yesterday and it was a hoot–when asked about the Hunter Biden laptop case she apologized for PBS which said at the time: “we don’t waste our time on stories like this–it’s just a distraction”. Ok–we know what that’s all about and how it eventually worked out.

Uri Berliner, a former (25-years) PBS newsroom reporter/writer in Washington, DC described the newsroom of bring composed of 100% Democrats and no Republicans (voting rolls are easy to access)– Berliner says they were informed the Hunter case would benefit Trump so why should they follow it? He didn’t survive and is now with the Free Press.

Maher describes Trump as a racist–sociopath–and deranged–certainly others have also said that and fine but the head of PBS who promises us unbiased news and opinion–get serious!

Maher has also said; “America is addicted to white supremacy”–it’s all there just get out your Google machine and/or U-Tube from yesterday–how about; “the 1st Amendment makes it hard to crack down on bad information.” Well, who determines what is bad information? me? you? Trump? Quinn?

Of course she has apologized for her statements and says she has evolved–well, who cares–do your thing on your dime not the taxpayer dime.

So it costs each of us $1.50 yearly–well what better reason to defund left wing news/or right wing news as they can raise that small amount from faithful viewers and corporations. No more tax-payer funds for PBS or any other ideological organizations.

    1. They are non profit and provide a public service and mostly funded with donations.

But the real issue is the Presidents behavior and his effort to shut down any media even those that may criticize him. What he said doesn’t bother you?

Does it bother me? Go on line and read the Wash. Post–NY Times or any other publication–how about CNN–MSNBC–what about Mother Jones and the HuffPost–what specifically do you see that he is doing to shut down press freedoms of these critics.

Why would defunding or criticizing a tax payer funded entity bother you? If your public library was a mouth piece for Brightbart or the National Review would they be above criticism? He can criticize anything he wants–didn’t O’Bama try to kick Fox News out of the press pool? The press as one rose up in defense of Fox–AP is now having a similar problem–Jim Acosta of CNN Trump tried to ban from the White House coverage–did not work.

I’m easy–show me some evidence of what media outlet he wants to close and how he ever could do it–not one we taxpayers fund because that belongs to us–but privately owned news outlets. Can they defund Voice of America? If we fund it we can defund it–criticize it–and make a public outcry about it.

What’s disturbing is your defense of PBS/NPR–taxpayer $ to a one-sided organization that has told us that the 1st Amendment is an issue when it comes to “bad expression”. Now you seem to confuse Trump with Ms. Maher–she is scary because she actually will distort the news and on our dime.

      2. It’s partially funded to the tune of $1.50 per person per year. Did you actually read what he wrote.

Of course I read it and commented on it–it’s getting late but not too late–so what it’s only $1.50–would you subsidize Fox News for the same–I would not!

Simple question–why is there but one network that gets federal funds? Of course you and Connie probably like what you see and hear–I like the classical music and many of the PBS programs–but just because you and I like Masterpiece and Ken Burns doesn’t mean the taxpayer should pay for it.

Why should we pay and why is it a left leaning entity?

I said years ago that my kids left the nest at age 21–when does Big Bird leave the nest?

    1. Yes it does. But attacking the media is not what a President does, he is supposed to defend it not encourage eliminating it, any of it.
