I read frequently on social media sites that Donald Trump is doing exactly what MAGA folk wanted him to do when they voted for him. The best president ever I read.
I search my mind trying to determine what that is.
Yeah, there is the wall and deporting illegal (and sometimes legal) immigrants and ignoring the law and courts in the process, but after that, what do people want that is being done? Illegals broke the law that’s only what matters. Seems to me other people broke the law and got away with it.
Leftists will be the destruction of us all. Smaller government less intrusion in our lives, we can be responsible for ourselves seems popular – until we can’t.
Trump is leading us to living with Christian values. How he can be a shining example befuddles me, but that is probably on the list. I know he is a gift from God. Truth Social says it all the time.
I guess they feel there is no issue losing the illegal immigrant workforce or taxes they pay.
Perhaps it’s the false belief in waste, fraud and abuse driving taxes.
It can’t be cutting vital research and educational funds can it?
Is it eliminating regulations that protect us and the environment? That can’t be it?
Is lowering taxes while we are drowning in debt the attraction?
I guess diversity, equity and inclusion are a no, no. After all, that’s an incentive to allow the less than qualified to fly planes or become doctors as I have read.
Are they cheering tariffs because we are getting even while ignoring the consequences?
Perhaps it is withdrawing from global alliances and agreements, closing embassies or is it denying global warming and digging more coal?
Maybe it’s the tough talk and bullying that is appealing to some people. Maybe the idea of authoritarianism will save us. Is getting caught repeatedly in lies and misinformation somehow attractive?
Do Americans believe the USA can flourish in isolation, ignoring the rest of the world? America can be great alone, right? We can grow and build all we want and need for sure.
I know, it’s ignoring the fiscal crises coming to Social Security and Medicare. But hey, no problem, we don’t need any of those socialist programs anyway.

With Donald Trump’s second administration rapidly dismantling US alliance networks, domestic institutions, and global trade arrangements, historian Irena Grudzińska Gross recently asked former Polish dissident Adam Michnik how America’s own democratic opposition should be approaching the authoritarian regime that now confronts it.
Irena Grudzińska Gross: The Trump administration has wasted no time going after institutions that it associates with the opposition, such as by withholding federal funding from leading research universities, intimidating media outlets, and barring lawyers at major law firms from entering federal buildings. As a politician, historian, and former opposition activist, what advice would you offer to, say, a student at Columbia University?
Adam Michnik: It would never occur to me to give specific advice to Americans on how they should deal with the situation, because the situation must be diagnosed first. It is something new, and it has turned the world upside down. We must learn to think about geopolitics and America in a new way, asking whether we are dealing with something accidental, or whether it is a sign of the world’s evolution – whether the world is going in a different, new direction.

Yes, of course the tariff situation is miserable in my opinion, but come 11-2026 Republicans will pay the price just like you guys did in ’24. Stupid policies lead to defeat regardless of parties.–the party of pronouns is just one of the many stupid ideas you folks have–how about politicians cavorting with an illegal in El Salvador who beats his wife and has been told by judges to leave twice–then showing some of the same politicians wearing a Harvard sweatshirt–now those are the Progressives we all know about–let Harvard tap its $53 billion endowment–leave the taxpayer alone–but I love the image of the wife-beater and the elite folks.
yes, living in world that is connected and not treating our friends like enemies makes sense to me but there will be a price to pay for this if we continue down this road.
Yes, DEI brings us folks not based on merit but on gender–race–ethnicity–sort of like VP Harris and SC Judge Harris–both DEI hires–I bet you and Connie only go to doctors and medical folks who fit into your DEI beliefs. I know–give them a hand up but not for the wealthy with choices but for the bigots and racists who are less well off.
Medicare and SS–spending and benefits gone wild since inception and the solution, by the folks who created the problems, is more spending and additional benefits. Who brings their car to Social Motors for service–they totally screw it up–and 12-months later they return for more service.?

This was not an accident. Have you read the Salon column “Who goes Nazi?” written in the 40s? Those in charge of the US govt are either born Nazis or were easy target for Putin & Moscow. It just took time and the right conditions plus a lot of money. Moscow plays the long game and so far it appears to them that they won. We don’t have to let them.
