What happened to the American conscience? Yes, that is our problem and a big one.

I posted this news item in Threads. Here is a small sample of the feedback. It still continues. Very few people expressed any degree of empathy. Most as in the examples below, were mean spirited, selfish and with not a shred of empathy.

Note the references to starving American children. The fact is very few people starve in America and those are typically associated with abuse.

And yes, I blame these attitudes on the anti-government, anti-tax, America first, America alone environment created by Donald Trump. This is what MAGA has created.

Yes, there are Americans with food shortage, but they are not starving and we can and should also solve that problem as well. That takes taxpayer money as well.

I wonder what the reaction would be from these same people if the Trump administration proposed increasing benefits under our SNAP and CHIP programs and other social safety nets typically referred to as leftist ideas using their tax dollars? After all, Musk called such program recipients “parasites.”

Quite an assumption isn’t it?

Is this how a great country operates, the richest country in the history of the world?

  1. I agree with Richard wholeheartedly on this one, and I am a leftie. This isn’t even political, Trump is not a Republican or a conservative. He is sick. He will have a special place in history.

Conveniently left out is the reason for such misery is the civil war in Sudan–destruction and human suffering rivals what we see in GAZA–various foreign governments, aid groups, as well as others have stepped up to try and fill the void–US aide is now being stepped up but does not compare to the past.

Isn’t that what you want in a leader to deny aid to Ms. Huckabee? Maybe she did not meet the criteria for state aid? Good for him–no special treatment is fine with me–although Trump is the winner of special aide if he knows you–but in this case he finally did the right thing–maybe.

James, we have folks like Quinn who posture morally and take pleasure in printing the responses we read–if you hate Trump that legitimizes your bias and prejudice–it makes you feel morally superior when you pull these up–you can find crazy responses to all types of questions as he proves all the time.

I would just ignore it and wonder why someone did not print up a list of 5 or so relief organizations active in the Sudan situation despite the civil war and horrible destruction.

  3. Dick – the responders below reflect the 49% of the electorate who will always support “he who shall not be named” – even if they are adversely affected.  It is interesting to see their responses when they became part of the doge cuts and lose their own jobs.  Yet, they still support his initiatives – especially if he will make an exception and give them their job back.  Loyalty only runs in one direction with him.  Just ask Sarah Huckabee Sanders since he denied her state their FEMA request for their storm related damages. 4. I’ll grant there are some people in this country who lack empathy. Is it due to Trump or MAGA (whatever you think that is) or lack of a Democrat in the White House? Not a chance and your simplistic rant is on the level of the loons who key Teslas. I had thought there was more to you than this Quinn. I guess I was wrong.

    1. I didn’t post political on HD.

Love the words “you lefties” especially given I never voted democratic in my life 😎.

Using common sense is more appropriate.

      2. You should look at the HD home page. He did no such thing.

If you think I despise Trump and what he has done to the American people, to our country and the world, you are right.

My opinion is based on what he says, writes and does, not what other people say.
