Project 2025 is undermining our democracy

Have you forgotten about Project 2025? You shouldn’t because it’s shaping your life and the future of the United States.

Remember what Donald Trump said about Project 2025?

Donald Trump has publicly distanced himself from Project 2025, stating on the campaign trail that he had “nothing to do with” the initiative, had not read it, and didn’t have any plans to. He specifically said at one point, “I have no idea what Project 2025 is… I’ve never read it, and I never will.” He also claimed that while he heard some “phenomenal” things from it (like “Law and Order”), he also heard things he would “totally disagree with.”

As usual he was lying through his teeth. This extreme ideology is exactly what Trump is implementing.

Consider the goals of Project 2025 and compare them with the actions the Trump administration has taken.

Project 2025 is a political initiative led by the Heritage Foundation and a coalition of conservative organizations. Its basic objective is to reshape the federal government of the United States and consolidate executive power in favor of right-wing policies.

Key aspects of its objective and proposed changes include:

  • Consolidating Executive Power: The project advocates for a strong “unitary executive theory,” aiming to give the president extensive control over the entire executive branch and reduce checks and balances from Congress and independent agencies.
  • Replacing Federal Civil Servants: A core goal is to replace merit-based federal civil service workers with individuals loyal to the president’s political agenda, thereby taking partisan control of key government agencies.
  • Dismantling or Restructuring Federal Agencies: The blueprint proposes to abolish or significantly restructure numerous federal agencies, including potentially the Department of Education, and reduce the scope and authority of others like the CDC and NIH.
  • Implementing Conservative Policy Agenda: Project 2025 outlines a wide range of conservative policy proposals across various domains, including:
    • Economic policies: Reducing taxes on corporations, instituting a flat income tax, and potentially cutting Medicare and Medicaid.
    • Social policies: Implementing stricter abortion bans, limiting LGBTQ+ rights, ending diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs, and potentially prosecuting “anti-white racism.”
    • Immigration: Mass deportations, ending birthright citizenship, and deploying the military for domestic law enforcement at the border.
    • Environmental policies: Reducing environmental regulations and favoring fossil fuels.
  • “Institutionalizing Trumpism”: The Heritage Foundation, which leads the project, views its role as establishing a long-term governing agenda that aligns with “Trumpism.”

In essence, Project 2025 aims to fundamentally transform the structure and function of the U.S. federal government to align with a conservative ideology and empower the presidency to a greater extent.

Now you may say, great I like Trump, I support him. But what after all this is in place a new person is in power, a person you don’t like, a person like the ones who caused WWII or who ran Eastern Europe or many South American countries?

The consolidation of power, the undermining the role of the legislative and judicial branches of government, xenophobia, and nationalism are taking us on a downward path.

  1. I haven’t read nor intend to read Project 2025 but I did look up some background and this is the 9th edition of the book of recommendations going back to 1981. Why is Project 2025 more newsworthy than the previous editions?
This government is not an autocratic style although it can seem that way when someone you don’t like is President or if Congress is majority of the party you didn’t vote for. I look for some resistance to outrageous proposals in Congress in most cases. That’s how it should be. We have had strong Presidents before and we are still here.
States seem to want different things in different parts of the country so I can’t fault making them responsible for the costs they want to run up. The hand wringing over cuts in benefits to working age healthy people tells me there is something wrong with our economy and society when millions have to be subsidized. That is a problem that both Dems and Republicans need to be studying.

  3. The pendulum swings. We had a codger in place fir four years who appears to have relied on committee rule. He continued practices initiated by prior administrations to get out of control. He espoused thoughts thatour boarder was closed when in fact he allowed millions of unvetted illegal boarder crossings to flood our education, medicare, welfare programs and expected billions of hard earned american dollars to be support these illegals. Granted many if those illegal aliens were seeking a better life but the problem ones caused repeat offenders and deaths of americans who deserved protection. It turns out career buriocrats spent billions on personal projects nit approved by congress. These horrendous abuses are being pused back by the currentt adminisrratuin to right the ship a d get back to setting up practices that the majority of Americans deserved. They want clear guidelines but first there needs to be a rectifying the wrongs uncovered. God Bless America.!

    2. As you present it, that is not true. But in any case, step back and consider the big picture. That’s is a country ruled as an autocracy and an ideology that holds every citizen should be empowered and fend for themselves and also seeks to push more responsibility and cost to each state.

TDS has infected your body as per usual you spout off nonsense unencumbered by facts–“loss of democracy”–when you and your friends tried to keep Trump off of 2 state ballots–when the Green Party and No Labels Party were challenged in every state by Democrats when they tried to have these “3rd” parties on the ballot–what’s more undemocratic than that?

What about the scandal when the lefty news media and your Democratic Party friends covered up Biden’s mental and physical disabilities? Talk about undemocratic!! Books have been written about Woodrow Wilson and Edith and how that was a travesty–one of the reasons for the 25th Amendment. You guys just didn’t report it–didn’t care–it would help Trump so the hell with democracy–Wash. Post says on its banner: Democracy Dies in Darkness–stop laughing Quinn it really says that and means nothing.

Well of course, as you know, the states created the Feds 250 years ago so much of the responsibility should belong to you and Gov. Murphy and your elected officials. If you in NJ want something then pay for it! What’s the problem???

Remember, most of the executive orders undue those that gave power to the Feds and took that power and responsibility and gave it to you. Even stupid things like showers with baffles (now gone) have been dealt with–what, toilets now give a good flush??—all these matters which are trivial were dictated by bureaucrats. Autocrats don’t give up power–do they give up power and control in NJ?

Why do you think folks move to red states where there is more freedom? Schools, money they can keep, and freedom from you “woke folks”?

I know it’s difficult for you but but try going to a left wing site and then tell us what freedoms the autocratic Trump has assumed. Get some facts if you want to play the game!!

Just think Quinn, Jewish students at Columbia and Princeton can now walk to class unencumbered by threats–violence–and boycotts. That mean old orange haired man!!!
