Who we are…or were

We don’t need no stinking diversity, we don’t need immigrants legal or otherwise, we don’t need other countries.

We are Americans, we don’t need nobody.

Silly, aren’t they

The reality is that from day one of our nation we needed all those things and still do. We wouldn’t be a country were it not for France.

The more we isolate our country and our society the weaker we get.

Except for indigenous people, we are all who we are because of immigrants.

Some of our greatest achievements and inventions were made by immigrants or their children.

Technology and Science:

  • Telephone: Invented by Alexander Graham Bell (immigrated from Scotland).
  • Google Search Engine: Co-founded by Sergey Brin (immigrated from Russia).
  • Alternating Current (AC) Induction Motor and AC Electrical System: Major contributions made by Nikola Tesla (immigrated from modern-day Croatia).
  • Bakelite (First synthetic plastic): Invented by Leo Baekeland (immigrated from Belgium).
  • Video Games (The first commercial home video game system, the Magnavox Odyssey): Conceptualized and developed by Ralph Baer (immigrated from Germany).
  • Modified mRNA Technology (Foundation for mRNA vaccines): Developed by Katalin Karikó (immigrated from Hungary).
  • Blue LED: Invented by Shuji Nakamura (immigrated from Japan).
  • Theory of Relativity and other foundational physics work by Albert Einstein (immigrated from Germany).

Everyday Items and Culture:

  • Blue Jeans (Levi’s): Developed by Levi Strauss (immigrated from Germany).
  • American Processed Cheese (Kraft): Developed by James L. Kraft (immigrated from Canada).
  • Basketball: Invented by Dr. James Naismith (immigrated from Canada).
  • Doughnut Machine: Invented by Adolph Levitt (immigrated from Russia).
  • The Hot Dog (Popularization): Credited to German and Polish immigrants.

Immigrants continue to play a crucial role in American innovation, with studies showing they contribute to a significant percentage of U.S. patents, especially in fields like electrical engineering and semiconductors.

They were all legal immigrants you say? Okay, but instead of deporting illegal immigrants without thought or consideration, perhaps we should have a way to leverage the value most can bring to our country.

  1. A distant relative of mine came to America as a student, overstayed her visa, got married to a green card holder, had two children, lived the American dream, for over ten years and … got deported by the Obama Administration … and took here spouse and two children with her to Europe.

Tell me again, why we should change processes in place for decades, enforced by prior Administrations, when it comes to those who either were never legally here or those who stayed beyond their allowed period?

A country has to have borders–laws are on the books for a reason–immigration and what it brings is fine, but folks must come legally–how many times have I heard; “nobody is above the law.”

any other laws you think should be broken?

It encourages a holistic view of justice that recognizes the humanity of all individuals involved, promoting a more equitable and just society. This balance is essential for fostering trust and integrity within communities and institutions.”

Just one case in point. There are many…

Narciso Barranco. “…came to the United States from Mexico and had recently contacted an immigration attorney about applying for an immigration program known as “parole in place,” which allows undocumented members of military families to apply for a Green Card.

Although his father had started the process, he had not submitted a formal application prior to his arrest…”

“…Narciso, came to the U.S. from Mexico in the ’90s and “just got straight to work,” Alejandro said. He said that he wasn’t sure whether his father knew he was eligible for a visa, a process that can take years, and didn’t make obtaining one a priority as “he was always just trying to work and provide for us.”

His three sons served in the Marine Corps. Two are still active.

Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.

      1. you know when you stand back and watch 10 million cross with millions coming illegally the mercy does little for me–someone might be hungry but does it justify stealing from the bodega–we could go on and on–let’s obey the law because without it we have anarchy.

      2. Oh, please. Many of the undocumented have been here for many years working and contributing to society and taxes. They are here because they came legally but overstayed their visa and US employers were happy to have their labor and so were Americans.

We have a long history of pardoning criminals, even those who would overturn our government or be our president.

No matter what, they are still human being trying to escape situations most Americans can’t imaging.

They are here. Deport the true criminals, drug dealers, etc. and develop a plan for the rest to gain legal status, the ability to work openly and contribute to society. Leverage their value for our benefit.

if you are here illegally then you leave–what’s the issue–10 million under Biden came legally say you–overstaying a visa is a reason not to be deported–if you are here illegally how do you get a SS# so you can work–are there any other laws you think should be broken–

the loons lost an election because folks had had enough of illegality and benefits to non-citizens–try entering El Salvador or Canada illegally and see what happens–

right now we are rounding up the law breakers and the crazy left with Antifa (the Democrats goon squad) feel justified shooting at U.S. agents–trashing them in public–doxing them and their families, with folks like you defending this civic lawlessness after being part of it by doing and saying nothing while they crossed the border in massive numbers.

you help create the problem and then you think you have the solution–where’s your credibility–like the new head of the Illinois teacher’s union who sends her child, and has for years, to private school.
