It is worse than you think. Of course, not all providers accept all insurance. And, what they may have charged in the past may not be what they will charge in the future – especially if they renegotiated their provider agreements.
Finally, no one cares what the provider charges. The only thing that counts is what will my out of pocket be – deductibles, copayments, coinsurance, and non-covered charges.
Stupidity with a capital S.
Instead, the idiot ass Trump and his Administration should shove (and shove hard) the Department of Labor to begin work (finish work?) on the Advanced Explanation of Benefits requirement that became law five years ago but has yet to be implemented.
