Much of the world understands this threat and risk, why can’t Americans?

By normalizing territorial predation and treating foreign policy as a vehicle for personal enrichment, Donald Trump is putting America’s economy and credibility at risk. Democrats and Republicans who oppose Trump must speak up now or inherit a world where US prosperity and security have been damaged beyond repair.

WASHINGTON, DC – The United States’ capture of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro has clearly emboldened President Donald Trump, who has subsequently threatened to unleash the US military on Cuba, Colombia, and, until pulling back this week, Iran. More ominously, he has also raised the prospect of forcibly seizing Greenland, a self-governing territory of Denmark, a longstanding US NATO ally.

Should Trump act on Greenland, (now apparently changing course once again after threats and bullying) the NATO alliance would be shattered, undermining US security and that of the broader West. Worse still, such behavior would normalize territorial predation by great powers, making Chinese action against Taiwan and Russian expansion into the Baltics – and even Central Asia – more likely.

Trump is lying about security issues. His goals are pure expansion, boosting his ego and obtaining control of natural resources.

This is the man with such an absence of dignity and abundance of ego he accepted the Nobel peace medal offered by the person who earned it.
