Since 2013 one person has worked hard to undermine America. The goal is power and control. The goal is self and nothing more.
He has appealed to and manipulated the fears and prejudices of many Americans and done so to present himself as their savior.
One person has lied, mislead, created scapegoats, created non-existent problems, attacked institutions and individuals, used government agencies to attack political enemies, divided the country like no time since the Civil War or perhaps Vietnam era.
He has made outrageous promises, but has failed to address some of the critical problems facing our society – social security, Medicare, deficits and debt. He has cut the financial support for millions of lower income citizens.
His supposed successes related to health care are nothing but smoke and mirrors with no substantive positive impact on Americans. In fact, he has undermined health care for Americans and people around the world. His latest proposal is to allow Americans to “negotiate” for health insurance and healthcare on their own after mischaracterizing the payment of premium subsidies to insurance companies.
He has called concern for the environment the “Green New Scam” and has favored “beautiful clean coal” – if you wash it. He seeks to block clean energy initiatives.
Here is a man some people praise for not accepting a salary while at the same time he leverages his position of power to make billions for his family.
He is a man obsessed with glorifying himself – surrounding himself with gold embellishments and his image and name for all to see. He demands awards he does not deserve, making claims he did not achieve.
Every speech, every press conference is a political rant without substance and little fact, but rather self-praise bragging and often outrageous claims.
All this and he still has an approval rating of 40% +-, but around 74% among those identifying as Republican.
Forget policies and politics, how can decent people with a modicum of integrity and common sense accept the personal behavior of this man?
He lies, he cheats, he brags, he bullies. That’s not opinion, it’s fact.
What is wrong with people? Why are millions of Americans so gullible and susceptible to his propaganda? How can they not realize they are being used?
On the other hand, such tactics have worked for autocrats, dictators and tyrants throughout history.
Is the United States next?

“I don’t care about the past”. 100% agree. You should always and only elect your representatives to Congress and the president and other positions based on the future.
“Tax policies”. Trump’s are so obviously superior to his predecessors from an economics, finance, debt and other perspectives.
“Border”, same, Trump is clearly superior.
“Immigration”. 100% agree that his response to his predecessor policies are wrong. Obama ignored clear legal precedent and allowed various illegal immigrants to remain in the country. Biden just totally F*CKED it up, and American citizens as well. However, Trump overreacted, with tactics that many perceive to be racist, swinging the pendulum totally the other way and made the mistake of confusing legal and illegal immigration. It will take a new President to find the right balance, and no President will succeed without substantial legislative changes that Congress is currently unwilling to make – changes so that America can identify what it wants in the illegal immigrants currently in our borders, what it wants in future immigrants, and the clear will and capability to enforce those policies regardless of who is President in the future.
“International relations and treaties”, Trump is clearly superior, NATO commitment (especially Ukraine), Abraham Accords, ISIS, Syria, Iran, Afghanistan, etc. If you mean trade, I agree that Trump has stepped in it on that category.
He has for 13 years promised a new health care plan. Yes, and, in the first term, he promised repeal and replace. Didn’t get it through Congress. Unlike Obama and Biden, however, his Administration didn’t consistently ignore the clear language of the PPACA statute. More than a dozen times in my presentations regarding implementation of the statute with respect to corporate employee health plans, Obama made a liar out of this lawyer. I would state the statute, only to have a different interpretation arise in subsequent regulations and subregulatory guidance. Thank goodness we got the Supreme Court June 2024 decsion, where the U.S. Supreme Court overruled the 40-year-old Chevron doctrine in Loper Bright Enterprises v. Raimondo, ending the requirement for courts to defer to federal agency interpretations of ambiguous statutes. The 6-3 ruling mandates that courts exercise independent judgment, significantly limiting agency power.
“He claims to support SS and Medicare but has don’t nothing to make them sustainable – actually the opposite.” No, actually, it was Biden who did the opposite with the Social Security Fairness Act. Both Obama, Trump 1, Biden and Trump 2 (so far) have done nothing else other than kick the can down the road.
“His promises regarding debt and deficits were and are a farce. In short, his is placing us all in jeopardy in the future and leaving a mess.” Trump’s position is nothing more than continuation of his predecessors – except to start to address Medicaid fraud and to re-invigorate defense spending. Beyond that, nothing much will change until Congress reasserts their primacy role regarding the budget. The last budget we received from Congress, that was completed as part of regular order, the regular process, with all regular appropriation bills passed on time was for FY 1997. That was also the last time we got a federal budget without a continuing resolution … continuation of the status quo inherited from a predecessor. We are still operating off of Bill Clinton’s design, made much, much, much worse by a variety of increased spending initiatives.

well said Jack–Trump just goes further out on the spectrum than Clinton and Biden–you will find Republicans have given him a much higher approval rating than Brother Quinn writes–I voted each time for him as the opposition I considered far worse–I vote for policies and the policies of the left are more than I can take.
The Texas Senate candidate (D) says there are 6 genders!! That and other stupid things he has uttered could put a damper on his chances–really now, where do the socialists find these looney tunes?
Millions of us are gullible–look, you turned a blind eye to an invasion of millions–you refused to see the corpse as being demented and totally unsuitable to run as a candidate–you probably believed the Russians are responsible for his 2016 victory or that Hunter’s computer was really disinformation.
I am always curious about folks disparaging others when they themselves have the same characteristic. Almost all of us turn a blind eye to politicians and their politics.
Here we are with gas prices in NJ having gone up by maybe $0.40 in a weekend and drawing oil from the Strategic Reserves is a real issue as the corpse drew it down to record lows in ’22 trying to win the House and Senate. I remember how shameful that was. Would bad ass Trump have done the same?? YES! in my opinion.

You said it perfectly:
“… Forget policies and politics, how can decent people with a modicum of integrity and common sense accept the personal behavior of this man? …”
People don’t forget policies. People don’t forget politics.
Trump is an idiot and and ass.
I didn’t vote for him, any of the three times. I didn’t vote for Clinton (either of them) nor for Biden. All of them have little integrity and constantly lied and profited from their time in office at every level.
President Clinton managed the federal government well. And, in hindsight, I could have voted for him despite his lying, and lack of integrity. Why, because “decent people with a modicum of integrity and common sense” don’t forget policies!
When faced with a choice of bad candidates (Trump and Clinton), (Trump and Biden), (Biden/Harris and Trump), “decent people with a modicum of integrity and common sense” will vote for policies and politics.

Obama, Biden are politicians and act like politicians. Trump is something very different. Very dangerous because he sees himself with power and authority he doesn’t have, he intentionally lies well beyond mere political exaggeration, he creates fake problems and scapegoats and above all, he acts in his own interests first and always.

I agree that Trump is no politician. Unlike Obama, Biden who lie to your face, you always know what Trump is thinking, especially because of what he believes that is not true, because he just blurts it out. That’s why you see what you see.
Obama and Biden, for comparison, would and did embrace racists like Strom Thurmond of South Carolina and Robert Byrd of West Virginia.
In terms of fake problems and scapegoats, for Obama and Biden, see Climate Change hockey sticks, and big health reform lies of “medical bankruptcy” and pre-existing conditions “insurance companies denying coverage”. Remember when Obama criticized George W. Bush for his addition of $6 Trillion to our national debt as “unpatriotic.” How do you like the $29+ Trillion Obama, Trump 1, Biden and Trump 2 added, so far, following Obama signing health reform into law on 3/23/2010!???
I can come up with dozens.
That doesn’t excuse Trump. But, your suggestion that Obama and Biden favorably compare in terms of policies and issues is mistaken.

I disagree. I see nothing in the past that compares with the actions, lies, scapegoating, abuse of power, manipulation and intentional encouraging of division among us. Trump not only lies repeatedly directly to us, he repeats lies that have already been proven false and he doesn’t care and his supporters simply accept.

You are entitled to your opinion. I laid out examples of why I believe Trump policies (border, taxation, budgets, Medicaid, entitlements, defense, ISIS, Syria, Iran, Afghanistan, Abraham Accords, NATO commitment – especially to funding and Ukraine, etc. ) are all superior to Biden and Obama.
You can’t seem to get beyond the Trump bluster and bull crap which I agree are much worse than Biden and Obama (as I say, Trump is an idiot and an ass) to see the difference in outcomes from how each addresses policies and issues.
Tell me, of the ones I listed above, where would Biden or Obama be superior to Trump?

I don’t care about the past anyone else. I think Trump tax policy is wrong, I think the border and immigration non-policy is wrong and shortsighted for the longterm benefit of the country. I think his international relations and treaty policies are wrong.
