I do believe Trumps quote was from General Curtis LeMay, who said of North Vietnam, “ Let’s bomb them back to the Stone Age.” He did run as a vice president candidate with Ross Perot. I’m doing this from memory, not AI as Quinn favors, so you may want to check me to make sure.

Curtis LeMay? No, he never actually said that. LeMay believed in using overwhelming, total force to end conflicts rapidly.
Not surprised that you didn’t mention the fact that Trump was only using his own words to describe the “Powell Doctrine,” which advocated for using overwhelming force and having a clear exit strategy. Colin Powell, then Secretary of Defense, famously described the military strategy to deal with the Iraqi army in Kuwait by saying, “First we’re going to cut it off, and then we’re going to kill it”.
Obvious differences in how the median treat the current Secretary of War and today’s field commanders, compared to the honorable treatment of Powell and General H. Norman Schwarzkopf.
As for the VP candidate in Ross Perot’s 1992 campaign, it was James Bond Stockdale. How soon we forget!

Fighting an army, a force attacking you is one thing. We are not fighting an army we are fighting an ideology, a theocracy a terrorist regime imbedded in the population and to say you will destroy them into the stone age is saying to do so to the population.
Even the bombing of Dresden was criticized. “when we think of Dresden, we wrestle with the limits of what is permissible, even in the best of causes.”
Sending a country, especially under these circumstances, into the Stone Age ain’t it‼️
