How to view Trump and why so many Americans accept him.

Is Satan in the Oval Office? No I have not gone off the deep end. But having a malignant narcissist in charge does have me seriously concerned. Is there anyone who can doubt that?

Reject these views if you like, but before you do, crank up your critical thinking skills, because this man is changing the world, your country and affecting your future…and not for the good.

The Mass Psychology of Trumpism

“In 1962, a prominent Harvard psychologist published a scholarly paper titled “The Personality and Career of Satan.” Henry A. Murray examined how, for over 2,000 years, Western theologians and other writers have depicted the mythical figure of Satan, projecting onto him human traits perennially designated as evil.”

It is worth noting that Murray’s characterization of Satan bears an uncanny resemblance to the psychological portrait of Trump painted by many psychologists today. A malignant narcissism rages at the core of Satan’s personality. Cast out of heaven for his overmastering pride, Satan wants to be God, resents the fact that he is not God and insists that his supreme worth entitles him to privileges that nobody else should enjoy while undergirding his reign as sovereign of the mortal world below. Wholly self-centered, cruel, vindictive and devoid of compassion and empathy, Satan nonetheless possesses substantial charisma and charm. Completely contractual in his approach to interpersonal relationships, he has perfected the art of the deal, as when, in the Gospel of Luke, Satan tempts Jesus with earthly powers and riches in return for his adulation: “If thou will therefore worship me, all shall be thine.””

“Situated in a middle ground between God and human beings, Satan is a liminal figure. He is like a person but not quite a person. For one, he is gifted with superhuman powers of the sort, Murray writes, that children have always imagined they might possess in the furthest reaches of their wish-fulfilling fantasies. But he does not possess certain qualities that adults especially value and recognize as part of the human condition. He lacks wisdom, for example, and love. He is not troubled by a complex inner life, by the doubts, ambivalences and moral quandaries that routinely run through the consciousness of mature humans. He is instead like the modern conception of a superhero. Satan is one-dimensional and mythic, an idealized personification, rather than a fully articulated person.”

“Donald Trump sees himself in the same way. While Trump insists that he is a force for good rather than evil, he truly perceives himself to be qualitatively different from the rest of humankind. He has often compared himself to a superhero. He has famously described himself as a “stable genius” who has never made a mistake. He is not lying when he makes these outrageous claims, for Trump truly believes them to be true, just as he believes he won the 2020 election.”

“At the same time, Trump is incapable of describing an inner psychological life or of identifying traces of reflection, emotional nuance, doubt or fallibility. Even though he talks about himself all the time, Trump has never been able to explain his inner world or to narrate stories about how he has come to be the person he is, as frustrated interviewers and biographers have repeatedly noted.”

I find supporters who align Trump with Jesus especially pathetic because most of Trump’s behaviors are the antithesis of the teachings in the Bible and other major religions books.

  1. Your Satanic and Nazi comparisons fit right in with Robert DeNiro’s claims last Sunday as we approach America 250 – as reported by WSJ:

He claimed he can’t handle the phrase “We all love our country.” He said it sticks in his throat:   Because our country isn’t so lovable right now. DeNiro was reported to have said to his “collective” gathering:

“… I hate to say it, but loving our country is starting to sound like an abused spouse saying they love their abuser. I can’t love a country that starts stupid and inhumane wars, killing thousands of innocents and indirectly causing the deaths and suffering of millions more. I can’t love a country that takes healthcare away from millions of people and uses that money to enrich their pals in the Trump-Epstein class. …”

The Trump Aministration killed millions? I must have missed that. If so, well, I guess he is Hitler after all.

He asserts the Trump Administration took away health care from millions. I assume he forgets that it was the Democrats, and ONLY DEMOCRATS, who added the unnecessary dollop of added subsidies and failed to enforce Medicaid enrollment over the years 2021 – 2024. And, it was that Satanic, Hitler-like Bill Clinton who implemented welfare reform with more stringent rules than those in the OBBB.

    He further states:

“… I can’t love a country that sends out masked militias to shoot citizens in the streets, torture our neighbors, and separate families.  …”

Family separation happens all the time – when someone who is a criminal is incarcerated, when someone who breaks our immigration laws and is deported. Some reason why we shouldn’t enforce our laws?

“… I can’t love a country that’s led by a racist, misogynist, xenophobic tyrant. And let me just say it: I can’t love a country that’s led by Donald Trump and his sycophant Congress. For most of my life of course I did love my country. The United States of America welcomed my immigrant ancestors. It gave me, my family, and my fellow citizens such rich opportunities and extraordinary freedoms. I want to love my country again. I want my country back. …”

The opinion went on to conclude:

“When people talk this way I always wonder which version of their country they consider to be the lovable one. Is it the version in which Mitt Romney was smeared as a tax dodger or the one in which John McCain was cast as a bloodthirsty and mentally unstable monster? Maybe it was the one where George W. Bush was deemed a fascist and Bob Dole was mocked as senile? Is that the lovable country? Is that the one you want back?   Mr. Trump isn’t lovable. I’ll grant that. Somehow I don’t think that’s the … Committee’s real problem with America. The next Republican who comes along could be as lovable as a Labrador puppy. They’ll call him every name (they) can think of … “

    Have a nice day!

  2. Didn’t vote for Trump, would never vote for Trump. He is an idiot and an ass. He had the greatest opportunity to make a difference and crapped all over it.

At the same time, I could never vote for Secretary Clinton, Vice President Biden, nor Senator Harris – they are no better, in terms of ability to lead the federal government, and as we saw with President Biden’s administration (whether he was ever in charge or not), they abused the office, ran up significant debt, engaged in lawfare, etc.

Trump had a chance to earn votes from folks like me during his first administration – even though the Democrats in President Obama’s administration did their best to crap on political opponents via government supported lawfare and regulatory challenges, let alone actions by Jim Comey, then FBI director, and others to undermine him before his first day in office.

He should have placed himself above the fray, in terms of policy and rhetoric. He did neither. Why is anyone surprised to see his response?

Why is anyone surprised to see his evolution after surviving SPLC-influenced protests (Charlottsville, anyone), two impeachments, multiple assasination attempts, widespread rioting across the country, and repeated claims that he is a racist, mysogynist and Nazi – with multiple comparisons to Hitler?

Why is anyone surprised to see his evolution after the dramatic success of bringing America through COVID (Operation Warp Speed) where launch of vaccines was undercut among Americans by Biden and Harris assertions that they would not use the vaccines.

Before he was elected, I suggested someone who was less of an idiot and an ass would hand his phone to someone with discipline. The fact that he hasn’t and that he didn’t learn from his first administration, just confirms why I would never vote for him – for dogcatcher, let alone President.

However, you only add to the mess with your comparisons to Satan, let alone Nazi’s.

    Give me a break.
