  1. Well, he’s sure right that nobody will do it (erect monuments) once he’s gone, but as you point out, why do it at all? I think he has daddy issues, and also a personality disorder. Neither are excuses. I’d love to know what Xi was really thinking during the visit. However, except when he had an elderly party member escorted out of the People’s Hall with no explanation, Xi pretty much has the inscrutable expression perfected. And I even during that show of authority, he acted like it wasn’t even happening.
