“They” “them” “government” are your friends and neighbors.
There is no scam, your government is not ripping you off. You are your government.
Government is not some independent being out to get you.
Tax revenue is what makes it all work and that revenue must be adequate to meet growing expenses and reliable to sustain budgets.
Everyone needs to pay these taxes to support their community, every age, with or without children, whether you choose to send children to public school or not, whether you drive or not, everyone.
That’s how organized societies function.
