According to her mandatory House financial disclosure filings:

• Assets: She reports total assets valued between $3,000 and $80,000, consisting mainly of cash in checking/savings accounts and her 401(k) retirement plan.
• Liabilities: She carries between $15,000 and $50,000 in student loan debt.
• Income: Her primary source of income is her standard congressional salary of $174,000 per year.

Debunked Online Rumors

A viral social media claim circulating since 2022 alleged that Ocasio-Cortez has a net worth of $29 million. Fact-checking organizations (including Reuters, Associated Press, and FactCheck.org) and Forbes have repeatedly confirmed that this claim is false and unsubstantiated, stemming from clickbait sites with no source material.

And yet, nothing stops people from posting and sharing garbage intended to do what I’m not sure.

Here is another frightening example of lies and ignorance.

Ignorance is scary and becoming more so. Doubling Social Security payments would cost more than $1.2 trillion a year.
