Complaining about the inadequacy of Social Security and Medicare. Complaining about prices and inflation…

These are screenshots from scores of similar posts on Facebook. They all start with “this is bullshit” I’m 78, 82, 87… and complain I paid my whole life, social security doesn’t pay the bills, hasn’t kept up with inflation or Medicare keeps cutting benefits or does not cover the cost of care. Seniors deserve more, “they shouldn’t be treating us like this…. “

They all ask you to open comments.

So, do seniors deserve our empathy? I wonder what is really going on. Likely a scam, but they keep harping on the same topics designed to gain sympathy.

The message to all these folks in real life is to plan better for retirement, plan for inflation and before you retire know how both Social Security and Medicare work and what they can and cannot do.

Be cautious of “sob story” video posts asking people to “open the comments” or share to “help” — this is a well-known bait tactic on Facebook, often unrelated to the account’s stated purpose, and often preludes a scam (fake fundraisers, phishing links in comments, etc.).

These posts are from “Senior Saver“ or “Senior Savers” or something called “Daily Senior.”
