Keeping a perspective
We can’t control what others do and we can’t stop misfortune from striking. But we can control our own actions. Those who are financially prudent will most likely enjoy success, even if events don’t always go their way.

If it makes you feel any better, in 1981 I had a 18% car loan and 10% mortgage in 1986. I also paid both of them off without asking any Presidents to forgive my debt.

I also had one of those 18% car loans. My mortgage rate was slightly lower as a first time home buyer.
