The “Real” Cost of Driving
While the inflation-adjusted price of gas today is slightly higher than the 1973 average, driving is actually “cheaper” in one sense: fuel efficiency.
- In 1973, the average car got about 12–13 mpg.
- Today, the average new vehicle gets closer to 26–30 mpg.
My car gets over 40 mpg on the highway using a turbocharged 4 cylinder engine.
So what are we complaining about?

let’s see growth this past quarter was quite solid if I remember correctly–good news on employment I think Wednesday–from what some thought negative numbers to a positive number–not too shabby–inflation came in lower than expected so another not too shabby number–maybe by the end of the year we can take a look see and make some conclusions.

Before we started spending all kinds of money we don’t have (and were unwilling to collect in taxes) on Health Reform (PPACA, signed by President Obama on 3/23/2010), our national debt was $12.7 Trillion (234 years after the Declaration of Independence). That means, over the following 46 years, we will have added $155 Trillion or an increase of 1,319%!
That’s without a fix for the coming exhaustion of Social Security and Medicare Trust funds!

– Increase in annual deficits over the next 10 years from $1.9 Trillion to $3+ Trillion a year!
– Interest costs on debt will exceed $1 Trillion this year, and $16 Trillion over the next 10 years!
– Over the next 10 years, receipts will increase from < $6 Trillion to $8+ Trillion, however, spend will increase from $7+Trillion to $11+ Trillion!

Show us any evidence that Biden let 10,000,000 in the country. If that were true there would be over 20 million now given there were 10-11 million here before he was elected.

I have no trouble with legal immigrants and nobody I know does–no trouble with legal guns–no trouble with folks legally driving their auto–why your love affair with illegals? Encounters are not let in, they are encounters and most returned. Biden did not let in 10 million or anywhere near that.
Trump is doing what he can to stop all immigration including cutting highly skilled Visas.
We need immigration, need a way to leverage their labor and taxes. We need a way safely to make sure those here find a way to legal residence to do that. Our general xenophobia is short- sighted and not in our best interest.
Trump has spent years fostering hate via misinformation and outrageous claims and still does.
They are here illegally for sure. Others who committed worse crimes have been pardoned by the same person who claims the illegals are terrorists, rapists, murderers, and taint our blood.

1) IF… by “impartial appeal”, you mean one that you agree with. The last legal opinion, subject to appeal by -both- parties, was that Trump (and sons) was guilty of fraud and prohibited from doing business in NY. The half billion judgement was not canceled because ‘no one was harmed’, but, again by split decision that it violated the Eighth Amendment.
2) IF… ‘Who got cheated?’ is, again, your criteria for innocence or guilt, what objection do you have to immigrants, legal or not, who arguably make a net positive contribution to our country? Who got cheated?
3) Are you crazy? An open letter condemning Trump that had been signed by 233 professionals says… Yes.
