  1. Sorry, if you think Trump should be in prison, did you make that same argument for Bill Clinton and Barack Obama?

Clinton: Bosnia attacks, Clinton had repeatedly refused to act despite clear, extensive genocide, but then changed his mind in August 1995 because he needed a foreign policy win in his run for reelection in 1996.

Or failure to act: Rwanda: The 1994 Rwandan genocide was a 100-day slaughter where Hutu extremists killed an estimated 800,000 to 1,000,000 Tutsis and moderate Hutus.

Obama: Libya: So called “kinetic military action” supposedly intended to prevent a humanitarian crisis which led to regime change and Gadhafi’s fall.

Or, failure to act: Syria, where Obama cut a deal with the Russians after refusing to honor the “red line” he had drawn in the sand. https://www.pbs.org/wgbh/frontline/article/the-president-blinked-why-obama-changed-course-on-the-red-line-in-syria/

Folks, it is certainly OK to criticize the idiot ass Trump – I certainly do. However, it is also time to support the folks in uniform, from the Marines to the local police… in the fight against terror abroad and here in America. NBC News: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CDJznYC1qhY

    1. Why does what someone in the past did or didn’t do justify or excuse what a person today does? That is childish behavior.

      1. It doesn’t excuse anything. However, learning from history is the exact opposite of childish behavior.

I have no respect for Trump, and, I wish there was some other option than the one chosen.

However, this isn’t me-too-ism. And, it isn’t an attempt to justify current actions.

It’s a failure to understand and respect history – by Trump, and his predecessors in the oval office … as well as today’s critics.

“Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it” – philosopher George Santayana from his 1905 work The Life of Reason.

You can find this saying on a plaque at the Auschwitz concentration camp. Clearly, the Israelis remember.

When people fail to learn from historical mistakes, conflicts result, often leading societies or individuals to relive them. Failure to remember, and adjust, all but ensures we won’t make progress. Studying history is crucial for recognizing patterns, making informed decisions, and avoiding repeating past disasters.

Often attributed to Mark Twain: “History doesn’t repeat itself, but it rhymes”.

I have to think not repeating past mistakes (e.g., North Korea, Korean War (70+ years ago, and current nuclear and missle capability) was one reason why so much attention has been placed on Iran. Remember, it was MacArthur who wanted to drop a nuclear device on the North Koreans and Chinese. During the Korean War, General Douglas MacArthur strongly advocated for using 30–50 atomic bombs to destroy Chinese military bases in Manchuria and create a radioactive, impassable barrier along the Yalu River.

I suspect remembering the past is one reason why America and Israel diverge today – Trump wants to leave as soon as possible (with one eye on gas prices and the midterms), while Israel, as the missles continue to fall in Tel Aviv, wants to stick it out until there is true regime change.

Stop now, and perhaps your grandchildren will again be here in 2073, after another 47 years.

And, compared to Iran gaining access to weapons of mass destruction, perhaps that’s the best outcome we can hope for from the current conflict … another 47 years.

  2. I do believe Trumps quote was from General Curtis LeMay, who said of North Vietnam, “ Let’s bomb them back to the Stone Age.” He did run as a vice president candidate with Ross Perot. I’m doing this from memory, not AI as Quinn favors, so you may want to check me to make sure.

    1. If so, is that supposed to make it right? And was LeMay President of the United States? The MAGA cult is like dealing with kindergarteners who justify their actions because Johnny chewed gum in school too or if she was a bully, why can’t I be too.

We are in a pathetic state.

don’t you love it when the left calls folks “childish” and “kindergarteners”–the same folks who refer to those they oppose as “Hitler” and “Nazis”–show pictures on the website of these folks– talk about foolish and dangerous–history only counts when they decide it’s relevant–

the question always is why didn’t you speak up when you saw something illegal or wrong? you sat with your thumb up your butt when folks invaded this nation –heck you justified it and it cost you an election.–

don’t criticize some folks for behavior when others did the same as pointed out by Jack.

      2. You know what metooism is, right? It is the excuse to justify your actions through someone else. Johnny lied, so what is wrong with me lying too, as of that lying was excusable.

Just tell us what Biden or Obama did or didn’t to is relevant to what Trump did or is doing? Very simple. You might want to listen to Trumps technique.

    2. Curtis LeMay? No, he never actually said that. LeMay believed in using overwhelming, total force to end conflicts rapidly.

Not surprised that you didn’t mention the fact that Trump was only using his own words to describe the “Powell Doctrine,” which advocated for using overwhelming force and having a clear exit strategy. Colin Powell, then Secretary of Defense, famously described the military strategy to deal with the Iraqi army in Kuwait by saying, “First we’re going to cut it off, and then we’re going to kill it”.

Obvious differences in how the median treat the current Secretary of War and today’s field commanders, compared to the honorable treatment of Powell and General H. Norman Schwarzkopf.

As for the VP candidate in Ross Perot’s 1992 campaign, it was James Bond Stockdale. How soon we forget!

We should all be as good, as patriotic, as intelligent, as American as Admiral Stockdale.

Vice Admiral James Bond Stockdale was awarded the Medal of Honor for his courageous leadership as the senior naval officer in Vietnamese POW camps from 1965 to 1973. He defied captors, organized resistance, and, when tortured, intentionally inflicted a near-mortal wound on himself to avoid being used for propaganda, earning his fellow prisoners’ gratitude. His actions and endurance during seven and a half years of captivity are considered one of the longest and most difficult in U.S. history, and he is one of the most highly decorated officers in Navy history

Leadership & Resistance: Recognized as the leader in the prisoners’ resistance to interrogation and refusal to participate in propaganda exploitation.

Self-Inflicted Injury: Deliberately wounded himself (disfigured his face and inflicted a near-mortal wound) to avoid being used by the enemy for propaganda purposes.

Heroism Under Duress: Served as the senior officer in captivity from 1965 to 1973, surviving multiple instances of torture, long-term solitary confinement (four years), and heavy leg irons for two years.

Inspiration: Inspired fellow prisoners to adhere to a code of conduct and maintain high morale through secret communication methods.

      1. Fighting an army, a force attacking you is one thing. We are not fighting an army we are fighting an ideology, a theocracy a terrorist regime imbedded in the population and to say you will destroy them into the stone age is saying to do so to the population.

Even the bombing of Dresden was criticized. “when we think of Dresden, we wrestle with the limits of what is permissible, even in the best of causes.”

Sending a country, especially under these circumstances, into the Stone Age ain’t it‼️

      2. It is true that this conflict isn’t like past wars – drones, missles, cyber, potentially nuclear.

However, the idiot ass Trump’s comment regarding stone age was his kindergarten way of saying the next escalation of the conflict is to destroy critical Iranian infrastructure.

Obviously, he hasn’t targeted civilian populations in the past. So, after 30+ days of attacks, Iran admits about 3,000 deaths, mostly military and government.

So, your suggestion that the idiot ass Trump will repeat Dresden or Tokyo is misplaced.

Here are some of the idiot ass’s targets – threats to “obliterate” and destroy key civilian infrastructure in Iran—including power generation, desalination plants, and bridges—if a deal doesn’t appear soon. Specific warnings include “bridges”, “electric power plants” and Trump specifically identified Iran’s desalination plants, oil wells, Kharg island oil export hub – crippling Iran’s energy sector.

It is what he means when he threatens to “send Iran to the Stone Age”

Obviously, Trump doesn’t want to kill thousands or millions of Iranians … he continues to hope that Iranians will rise up and achieve regime change … if only so that America can stop, and leave …

      3. Amazing how memory fails at times. I looked up the quote and LeMay said he didn’t say we should bomb them back to the Stone Age but he said we have the capability to bomb them back to the Stone Age. He said he was only referring to North Vietnamese infrastructure, not the people. My bad for not fact checking. My bad also for forgetting Stockdale and inserting LeMay in the 1992 race.

      4. Lemay retired from the Air Force in 1965. I believe he made that statement in 1968, during the presidential campaign, when he was George Wallace’s running mate. At his first press conference with Wallace in October 1968, LeMay said, “I don’t believe the world will end if we explode a nuclear weapon” and indicated he would use them in Vietnam if necessary.

such a tragedy for our country which bombed Dresden–Hamburg–and 2 Japanese cities into oblivion–I’m not sure I can sleep tonight.

the mullahs are just wonderful folks who throw gays and lesbians off roofs–treat women as 2rd class citizens–and have as objective # 1 driving the Jews into the sea.

how much better the world has been without Hitler and the Japanese emperor. Let’s put the screws to the world’s greatest purveyor of terrorism–the clowns with missiles that can strike European cities and can be armed with nuclear warheads–the sooner they are defeated the better we all will be.

is this the arrogant bully who allowed an invasion of illegals into our country–or led us into even more inflation with spending money we did not have and no lefty objected–is this the bully who has little or no sympathy for victims but defends every illegal who murders the innocent.

In ’28 you get your chance to vote for Gov. U-Haul, or AOC. maybe Crazy Bernie or Pocahontas–go for it .

  4. Trump ADMIRES Putin, Xi, and Kim Jon Ing BECAUSE their enemies ‘disappear’. Power of life over death, or vice versa. That’s what Trump wants, and now has. He’s not just ruining the U.S. He is ruining the world.

    Put him in prison now.
