The White House doesn’t belong to Trump or any president and there is a legal process to make changes. Trump ignored that.
In a Friday night social-media post, Trump referred to the ballroom project as a “military complex” and a “desperately needed National Security structure for the people of the United States of America.”
Last year, when Fox News’s Jesse Watters got time with Trump, the president identified another reason driving his desire.
“He said, ‘Jesse, it’s a monument,’” Watters told a crowd at a TurningPoint USA event in December. “I’m building a monument to myself, because no one else will.”
Historically designed in 1962 by Bunny Mellon during the Kennedy administration, the central Rose Garden featured a large lawn flanked by flower borders. In mid-2025, the lawn was completely paved over with stone tiles to create a formal terrace patio intended to better accommodate events and guests. National Park Service (.gov)
QUINNSCOMMENTARY 
It’s hard to know what to say. You do so much research that I don’t even have to: I appreciate it. I try to observe and listen, without making myself crazy. What I’m observing and hearing – this is my opinion, not fact – is that some person or people within the White House are shocked by some or many of the things going on and are talking to reporters. Imho, this is a good thing, as well as the fact that some judges are ruling against attempts to find out who is talking to the reporters.
